Famous Disappearing Act
For a number of years I’ve been joking about working on my Famous Disappearing Act. But as much as I’d like to vanish in a puff of smoke, never to be seen or heard from again —ideally while on stage to receive a major award—chances are I’ll go out like most people, quietly, perhaps with a whimper. For the “Disappearance” issue of esse, I have assembled a number of images from my work to reflect an awareness that, to paraphrase Joyce, one by one we are all becoming shades. It’s a sad and beautiful world.
