100 photographs of animals
Hannah, Adad

100 photographs of animals —

These one hundred photos of animals have been selected and sorted from the thousands and thousands of digital snapshots I have taken over the last twelve years since I purchased my first digital camera. Sets of one hundred photographs are presented in small editions of five archival print boxes. By removing certain photos out of the endless stream of photos taken and putting them together into boxed collections, new relationships are forged between images that would otherwise be unrelated to one another.

Adad Hannah was born in New York in 1971, spent his childhood in Israel and England, and moved to Vancouver in the early 1980s. He now lives and works in Montreal and Vancouver. He has exhibited at the Samsung LEEUM Museum (Seoul, 2011), Prague Bienniale 5 (2011), Museo de Bellas Artes (Santiago, 2011), 5th International Video Art Bienniale at the Israeli Center for Digital Art (Holon, 2011), Canadian Bienniale at the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa, 2011), Australian Centre for Photography (Sydney, 2010), Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (2010), the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (2008, 2009), Galerie Thomas Shulte (Berlin, 2008, Ke Center for Contemporary Art (Shanghai, 2008), the Vancouver Art Gallery (2007), the 4th Seoul International Media Art Biennale (2006), Casa Encendida (Madrid, 2006), and Viper Basel (2004). Hannah’s work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, the B.C Arts Council, the Vancouver Foundation/Contemporary Art Gallery, the Quebec Delegations and Canadian Embassies in Madrid, Seoul, and New York. He has produced works at museums including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Rodin Gallery (Seoul), and the Prado Museum (Madrid).
