Simard, François

Sans-titre —

This work on paper is drawn from a recent series in which the graphic inventory of the artist is placed in various representational contexts, ranging from the makeshift architectural construction to the romantic landscape. Even though the interventions tend to make us see mountains and lakes, they are interrupted by the presence of a grid from the outset.

François Simard was born in 1980 in the United States and lives and works in Quebec City. In 2005, he earned a Master’s in Visual Arts from Université Laval. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions, among others, at Centre Clark (Montreal), Galerie Lilian Rodriguez (Montreal), Galerie B-312 (Montreal), and soon at l’Œil de poisson (Quebec).
