Kline, Chris

Untitled —

Chris Kline explores the legacies of modernist abstraction in pursuit of a poetics of painting’s formal and material vocabulary, testing its limits and horizons, and reflecting on our vision and states of being.

Born in Ontario, Chris Kline now lives and works in Montreal. Following studies at Queen’s University and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, he was a semifinalist in the annual RBC Canadian Painting Competition and was longlisted for the 2011 Sobey Art Award. Kline’s work is found in the corporate collections of Bennett Jones, Heenan Blaikie and the Royal Bank of Canada as well as in private collections in Canada and the United States. He will exhibit in the Québec Triennial 2011 at the Musee d’art contemporain de Montréal.
