LVG-001 —

The series of classy LVG absinthe-coloured glass frames is directly inspired by the creative genius of Vincent Van Gogh. The left temple of each frame in the series has been skilfully reproduced by a master cutler, giving it an edge that can satisfy the most demanding.

Jean-François Cooke was born in Chicoutimi, in 1974, and Pierre Sasseville, in Quebec City in 1978. They live and work in Quebec City. Their installations have been shown at several major events in Quebec and abroad. They recently participated in Manif d’art 5, in Quebec City, and presented their work in a solo show at Art Mûr, in Montreal. In 2008, they took part in the exhibition Rien ne se perd, rien ne se crée, tout se transforme, at the Québec Triennial presented at the Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal, Québec Gold, an exhibition of around twenty Quebec artists in Reims, France, and C’est arrivé près de chez nous: L’art actuel à Québec, at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. The Cooke-Sasseville duo has garnered many prizes and grants, including the Bourse Plein sud in 2007, Loto-Québec’s grant in 2008, as well as several research grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts. Works of theirs are also part of several collections: the Canada Council for the Arts’ Art Bank, the Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal, and several private collections.
